Zap2It- Bikes for Badges

Bike for Badges

June 8, 2018

By: Crystal Jones, Marketing & Operations Coordinator, MaxxSouth Broadband

MaxxSouth Broadband joined up with the Oxford Police Department for this year’s Oxford Police Department’s Bike for Badges Junior! Children, ages 5-10, grab your bikes and head down to the Lafayette County Courthouse on Saturday, July 28th. The race will take off at 8:00 AM and it’s FREE!

Three years ago, Officer Blake Horton started this event to raise funds for the Oxford Peace Officers Association. Horton said “I’m a biker, and I wanted a way to use it and give back to the community”. The Oxford Peace Officers Association provides financial assistance to officers and their families in the case of an emergency or illness. Any money made from selling shirts or received through donations will go to the Peace Officers Association.

Cones will be set up to create an obstacle course for the bikers, and children will also have an opportunity to meet the OPD Mounted Patrol horses.

For more information, e-mail Officer Horton at bhorton@oxfordplice.net
