The 4th Annual Art-er Limits Fringe Festival returns August 3rd through the 6th in Oxford! MaxxSouth is excited to take part in such a fun filled festival and looks forward to continuing the relationship with the Yoknapatawhpa Arts Council.
Art-er Limits provides an opportunity to be a part of the creative process and a chance to connect with some of the artists and performers. You will gain insight into the training, work and effort put forth in the performance. This year, there are two options for admission into the festival. The first option is the Festival Button. It gets you into all Fringe Festival events throughout the entire event. The Festival Button is $35 for YAC members and $40 for non-members. The second option is the Day Pass, which allows you to get into one day of the festival. Day Pass prices are $15 a piece.
Your favorite event, The Iron Bartender Contest, is back on Thursday beginning at 6 PM at the Powerhouse. Local celebrity bartenders face off with a box of secret ingredients and the guests select the top cocktail! Starting at 6:30 PM at the Lafayette County & Oxford Public Library will be An Itch to Stitch. Bring your current project and join the fun with the multi-generational needlework group!
Friday features GUMP: With Your Pal, Charlie Davis, beginning at 8:30 PM. Join Charlie at the Powerhouse Theatre where he will take on the task of reenacting the Academy Award winning film all by himself. Audience members can decide how the movie plays out by randomly choosing a chocolate out of a box. Charlie will perform the scene that corresponds with the chosen chocolate on the spot! Following GUMP: With Your Pal, Charlie Davis will be a screening of Reefer Madness at 10 PM.
You will not want to miss the Fringe Photo Challenge Saturday at 10 AM at the Powerhouse Theatre. Photographers are challenged by drawing an emotion from a hat and taking a photo that exemplifies it! Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place. The day will be jam packed with other activities such as a juggling workshop, a hula hoop workshop and performance, music and movie screenings!
The event will close on Sunday at the Old Armory Pavilion with a Food Truck Fight. Help support the local charities while enjoying treats from the local food trucks. Enjoy live music from El Be Bop Kid while lounging on the grass. Muggs Cakes, YoknapaTaco, and Small Time Hotdogs are just a few of the food trucks that will be featured.
