MaxxSouth is to proud to announce they will be sponsoring not one but two Relay For Life events coming up in Lee and Prentiss counties. The Relay For Life of Lee County will be held on Friday, June 9th at Healthworks, while the Relay For Life of Prentiss County will be the following Friday on June 16th at Northeast Mississippi Community College. Both events will take place at 6:00PM.

To signify that cancer never sleeps, the American Cancer Society has asked that each team have their members take turns walking a track or designated path in this fundraising event. There should be a team member on the track at all times. The teams have themed campsites set up along the way to continue their fundraising efforts by collecting donations for food, games, and other activities. All the donations go towards the team’s fundraising goal. This year, both events have a separate goal of $100,000.00. With over 5,000 events taking place each year, it is estimated that Relay For Life has raised nearly $5 billion to contribute to cancer research, awareness, and improving the quality of life of cancer patients and their caretakers.

Luminarias light the way in honor of those that have been affected by cancer. You may dedicate them to a loved one lost, someone currently battling, or to a person who has overcome it. After dark, as each Luminaria is lit, everyone takes a moment of silence in remembrance of a life touched by cancer. When you make a donation for a Luminaria, it helps fund the mission of the American Cancer Society to help save lives.
